Volunteers from the Horsham & Crawley branch of Samaritans wrapped gifts for shoppers in County Mall, Crawley on Saturday 7th December.
The weather outside was frightful, but this didn’t deter the fundraising volunteers, who are all listening volunteers for Samaritans. Armed with a selection of wrapping paper, gift tags, bows, ribbons and Sellotape, the volunteers got to work, helping shoppers with the task of wrapping up their Christmas shopping.
There is often pressure to be happy at Christmas time, which we know isn’t always the case for everyone. We are here for anyone who is struggling, or has something on their mind. We don’t judge and we won’t offer advice. We are here to listen. Not everything sparkles for everyone at Christmas.
Dallas, Samaritans volunteer & Fundraising Lead
It’s been great to interact with people in the community and to be able to help with the gift wrapping. It’s a great way to engage with people.
Becca, listening volunteer
