In a bubbly blend of community spirit, craft beverages, and generous toasts, the Horsham and Crawley Samaritans made a splash at the Spring Equinox Beer and Cider Festival.
This lively event, known for its frothy atmosphere and local brews, was a magnet for beer enthusiasts and community-minded folks eager to raise a glass for a great cause.
As festival-goers hopped from stall to stall, sipping on a delightful selection of local brews and ciders, the Samaritans set up their own corner. The friendly team mingled with visitors, sharing tales of their vital work and inviting everyone to join in their fundraising efforts. In true community style, the event turned into a joyful celebration where the thrill of festivity mingled with the compassionate spirit of local support, all while keeping the drinks flowing.

Raising Donations with Beer Tokens.
Throughout the day, Samaritans volunteers received an overflowing response from the public. Many festival-goers contributed donations—ranging from traditional currency to creative offerings like unused beer tokens. In a brilliant display of community ingenuity, every unused beer token collected was later converted to cash. This innovative approach not only streamlined the fundraising process but also ensured that every bit of generosity was channeled directly to support the much-appreciated work of the Samaritans.
In total, the combined efforts meant that a significant sum was raised, providing a financial boost that will help sustain the Samaritans' invaluable services. These funds will go towards training, telephone support lines and community outreach.
“It was truly inspiring to see everyone coming together for the Samaritans. The conversion of unused beer tokens into donations is just one example of how creative thinking can make a big impact. We’re proud to be part of an event that not only celebrates our passion for ale but also supports worthwhile community causes.”
