For the last time in 2024 our Samaritans volunteers braved the cold to receive the generous donations of the public.
A grand total of £1005 was collected on Sunday 22nd December.
A handful of our Horsham and Crawley Samaritans spent their Sunday at Swan Walk shopping centre with donation buckets, ending the year with one last fundraising opportunity.
As always the public were very generous and we had some wonderful conversations with people of all ages.
As well as raising funds for the branch, this event increased the visibility of Samaritans, reminding people of the 24 hour helpline, on 116 123.
It may have been cold but so many people stopped to put money in the buckets, have a chat or just a nod and a thank you.

Fundraising events are vital for us to help cover the costs of running the branch and provide the best service we can. It is important that we keep up with steady fundraising for so many reasons.
- Visibility in the community, allowing us to foster and develop great working relationships.
- It also facilitates outreach opportunities, either on the day through face to face conversations, or by signposting to our Helpline.
Whilst Christmas is an exciting time for many people, we understand that it can be a difficult time for some. We would encourage anyone who is struggling, to call us in confidence.
