Horsham and Crawley Samaritans headed out to Horsham and Three bridges stations for the annual Brew Monday community outreach.
On Brew Monday, the third Monday in January, the Samaritans remind everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with the people you care about.
Brew Monday is all about creating connections and reminding people that they don’t have to face things alone. It’s also about encouraging people to reach out to others – to grab a cuppa, have a chat, and enjoy each other’s company, especially during the darker days or nights.
As Samaritan volunteers we were able to deliver that message to so many in our community.

It was an opportunity for volunteers to chat not just with visitors but also with Station Staff, Rail Police, and others who play such vital roles in our community. These conversations strengthen the relationships we have with the organisations and teams we work alongside and help us make an even greater impact.
This event was also a fantastic opportunity for us as Samaritans to connect and spend some time together. We hope you found it as rewarding as we did.
Lulu and Kirsty, outreach volunteers
As volunteers we were touched to hear members of the public, as well as Network Rail staff, share their appreciation and thanks for everything we do as Samaritans.

If you’ve noticed someone has gone quiet in the group chat or you haven’t heard from them in a while, reach out and check in. A simple message can mean a lot to someone who is going through a difficult time.
Just reaching out and asking someone how they are can give them the opportunity to open up about how they’re feeling. Don’t forget to put aside some time to catch up with them properly, maybe over a cuppa.
