If you like what we do at Samaritans, you can make a difference by joining our branch as a volunteer. As well as helping people, you might make new friends, have fun, and learn something new too.
I always feel so proud putting on the green tabard because of what it represents and how people respond.
- Listening Volunteer: Our amazing team of listening volunteers make sure that everyone has someone to turn to. It is an incredibly rewarding role and you will be supported every step of the way with extensive training and mentors to guide you. As a listening volunteer you will need to be able to commit to at least one 4 hour shift a week, with one overnight shift each month where possible. As we are open at all hours and over weekends, you can even fit your shifts around education, part time or full time employment.
- Fundraising Volunteer: If you have a flair for fundraising or perhaps you are looking to try something new, why not join our team of Friends to raise vital funds for our Branch. Find out more about what our Friends Fundraising team get up to here.
- Outreach Volunteer: Would you like to attend local events, reach out to new people or inspire a student to get the help they need? Our team of outreach volunteers raise awareness of Samaritans and make sure everyone knows we are here if they need to talk. They go to events, give talks in local schools and hold awareness sessions in community spaces. You can find out more about our outreach work here.
- Support Volunteer: We are always happy to welcome new volunteers and appreciate any support you can give. There are all kinds of ways you can get involved and help your local branch so whether you have a talent for DIY, admin support, or maybe even publicity we need you!
