On Tuesday 22nd March the branch was delighted to receive four visitors from Harrow Care Plus (Formerly Harrow Christmas Care).
They have hugely enthusiastic volunteers supporting the vulnerable, isolated, lonely & elderly as well as supporting vulnerable families in crises (living in short term accommodation) due to separation, domestic violence, illness, calamities such as the sudden death of a spouse, accidents and emergency and those who may need immediate practical support in Harrow. Lonely and isolated elders can be invited to events such as drop-in centres or elder’s groups to reduce isolation.
This lovely group also decided to support our Branch and arrived with a cheque for £750! We were able to meet with Anjie Chhapia and Harsha Seth from Harrow Care Plus and also Anil and Raksha Desai from Venue 5 Golf Society, and hear first-hand about the amazing fund raising and charitable work they do. We were also able to tell them about our work and show them around our Branch.. Their questions about our work showed how well they understood the needs of vulnerable people in our community and the complexities around safeguarding and confidentiality. Their concern for the vulnerable in our community and their passion and enthusiasm shone out! We hope to remain in close contact with them and see where we can exchange ideas and learning between our organisations.
