Great Yarmouth Samaritans look at ten simple things you can do to improve your wellbeing.
We all want quick and easy ideas to improve our health and wellbeing. Great Yarmouth Samaritans pick ten 'simple things' that can easily fit into our daily routine.
Second in our series of 'simple things' you can try: Get Some House Plants
Research has shown that by putting plants in an enclosed space they can reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds (chemicals that are released in the air by building materials, aerosol sprays amd cleaning products) in the air. These volatile organic compounds have been found to irritate the eyes, nose and throat.
Furthermore, during the day plants absorb carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen, which can help us feel better. High levels of carbon dioxide can make you lightheaded, give you a headache and impair thinking and decision making.
Studies have shown that having house plants in the home or office has an overwhelming positive effect. It has been found that having plants around you can reduce stress and increase efficiency and attention.
