Though February is almost at an end, we thought we should look back at the celebration of LGBT+ History Month
Since 2005, this important annual marking of LGBT+ history is a month-long event, worldwide. It recalls, and adds to the history of LGBT+ people, and related civil rights movements. It shows how far the LGBT+ community has come, from a time of criminalisation, to wider acceptance, and the gaining of further equal rights.
The theme for 2021 is ‘Body, Mind and Spirit’, and is particularly poignant and crucial during this pandemic. The following hyperl/watch?v=qA-9dYd501E). At Samaritans, we often support callers from the LGBT+ communities, who speak to us about their unique feelings, and experiences.

For many, knowing where they have come from, often helps shape their future, moving forward. Specifically, for us, the ability to outreach to any community during lockdown has been challenging, but as an Outreach Team we hope to be able to talk to the various LGBT+ groups within Gloucester and surrounding area soon, and will be there to support and spread awareness of what we do, at Gloucestershire Pride, at Gloucester Park this year, planned, fingers crossed, for Saturday 11th September.
On behalf of Paul & Jane in the Outreach Team, thanks for all you do.
