Matt McGuinness's We Are What We Overcome is back at the Edinburgh Fringe between 5-27 August 2022
We Are What We Overcome
One man’s journey to good mental health via a very bad idea. Fleeing suicidal thoughts and the obvious psychiatrist, in 2018 Matt booked himself into the single greatest arts festival on the planet. It’s not recommended by NICE. A musician with no theatrical experience found himself performing nightly with no preparation and no idea what he was doing. Weaving tales of how he got to and came back from the brink of suicide, this is the path taken from breakdown to talking publicly. Moves between a mix of heartfelt stories, self-deprecating humour and original songs.
Matt is supported by his band the MLC, who are Neil (keyboard and vocalist), Dan (bass), Jo (percussion) & Eileen (saxophone & tin whistle).
The ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND and Samaritans support the show.
The show is on between 5-27 August at theSpace@Symposium Hall (Venue 43), Nicholson Street.
Volunteers from Edinburgh Samaritans will be supporting performances on the 8, 13, 20, 21, 23 & 27 of August.
