Edinburgh’s first official University Mental Health Day is on Monday 11th March to raise awareness of and champion good mental health amongst our student population.
Edinburgh’s first official University Mental Health Day is taking place to raise awareness of and champion good mental health amongst our student population. The daytime festival will have a variety of classes, workshops and activities for students to take part in, as well as being able to seek support from a range of organisations, charities and university departments. These workshops include an early morning yoga class, songwriting workshop, mindfulness courses and more!
The daytime festival will be complemented by a celebratory dinner and ceilidh, which will be a ticketed event with food provided by Mosque Kitchen, a bar provided by Cork and Cask, as well as ceilidh band from Edinburgh Ceilidhs.
The event will have a theme of belonging, to try and bring together the Edinburgh student community, promote frank and honest conversations about mental health, wellbeing, and self-care, as well as educating students in a variety of different ways they can look after themselves, which they may not previously have considered. This is a fun event, with free workshops, goodies and merchandise, as well as prizes to be won. However, the space will also be a safe place for students to open up and seek support, should they so require.
Tickets for the event and some of the workshops can be purchased online via TicketSource. (https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/samaritans-of-edinburgh)
This event is presented by Edinburgh Samaritans and Edinburgh Nightline, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier University. The event will take place on 11th March at Greyfriars Charteris Centre, Pleasance, Edinburgh EH8 9RR
