The Bluebell Walk
Eastbourne & District Samaritans are honoured to join Bluebell Walk on Monday 28th April and Tuesday 29th April 2025.
We are proud to be supporting this 2 day event by providing refreshments from the cafe - Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with some lovely homemade cakes, bakes and treats or a choice of light lunches including sandwiches, salads & jacket potatoes.
Come along to this wonderful event and join us in celebrating Bluebell walk.
John McCutchan MBE started the Bluebell Walk in 1972, but the idea came from his late wife Carolyn. The concept of it being run by charities continues to this day, with over 75 having participated over the years. In 2013 John, Carolyn, their daughter Philippa and husband Michael Vine formed the Bluebell Walk Partnership, then in 2020 the Bluebell Walk Advisory Group (BWAG) took over and has 9 members to ensure that the Bluebell Walk progresses and develops into the future, with the invaluable assistance of local charities.

Since 1972 the Arlington Bluebell Walk and Farm Trail based at Bates Green Farm has developed into seven interesting walks over three working farms.
A circular walk of 1100 metres or 2/3 a mile in Beatons Wood has been made suitable for wheelchair users.
This is where you see white anemones followed by the vistas of bluebells, established over centuries. On this walk there are seats for you to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this oak and hornbeam ancient wood. Along the walks there are signs illustrating the flora and fauna of the countryside for your information.
There are well signed circular Farm Walks of varying length over our neighbours’ farms. The Lagoon Walk around 1 mile, the River Walk over a mile, the Parkwood Farm Walk (but unfortunately the new circular milking parlour is still under construction and cannot be viewed), the Primrose Farm Walk of under a mile and the Wild Garlic Walk which is not circular.
At Primrose Farm there is a horse livery.
