Two teams took part in this year's Durham City Run.
On the hottest day of the year, staff from The Banks Group and Durham University's Marketing and Communications team entered the Durham City Run to raise funds for our branch.
Despite the soaring temperatures, they joined over 3,000 runners to tackle the City's steep hills, river banks and narrow cobbled streets.
Our volunteers cheered the runners on to show our appreciation of their dedication and we are delighted to report that all the runners made it across the finish line despite the challenges!
Our youngest runner Tom (14) not only beat his mam and dad but also got to meet Steve Cram, the race director and Olympic medallist – also known as the Jarrow Arrow.
One team member said “It was a fab night – great running from everyone, lots of money and awareness for Samaritans, and beers afterwards. That’s a perfect night in my book!”
Lynn, our branch director said “I am so grateful to every single person who ran on our behalf. It was wonderful to see the runners in their Samaritans’ vests and we enjoyed cheering everyone along as they battled their way up to the finish line on Palace Green”
Between them the teams have raised over £950 - if you would like to sponsor the team from Durham University please click here.
