We were joined by our families, friends and local supporters for our AGM, where our guest speaker was Jenni McCartney, Chair of Samaritans
We were delighted to welcome the Chair of Samaritans, Jenni McCartney, to our 2018 AGM which was held at Durham City's Cricket Club. Jenni gave an inspiring and informative talk about how Samaritans will achieve our vision of fewer people dying by suicide. Jenni discussed the importance of recruiting more volunteers so we can meet demand, and how we can increase awareness of our service, through partnership work and community outreach. In addition to thanking us for the work we do, Jenni presented a number of volunteers with long service certificates. Rosemary, our director, reflected back on the last year for Durham Samaritans and the many different activities our branch volunteers have been involved with including our first stall at the annual Durham Pride and a new partnership with the NHS as part of the Think Samaritans programme.
