Dunfermline Athletic Football Club Support Samaritans of Dunfermline
Our joint statement in support of the Awareness day on Saturday 28th September 2024 at the SPFL Championship game V Queens park.
Dunfermline Athletic Football Club is proud to be partnered with Samaritans of Dunfermline as the clubs main charity partner. Both organisations recognise the importance of the wellbeing of the local community, and we look forward to working closely together in fund-raising and awareness activities, such as today, that are designed to benefit both the aims of Samaritans of Dunfermline, and the continued success of the Pars, within the whole community.
Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 50 and of young people aged 16-24 in the UK, and as such Samaritans hope that their association with the Football Club encourages those who find it difficult to talk about their problems to contact them.
Samaritans of Dunfermline have served the local community for 60 years with emotional support for those in distress and despair. Together, we work to make suicide prevention a priority for everyone, help raise awareness of Samaritans, and how to support others who may be struggling and reduce the stigma around suicide.
National campaigns such as “Samaritans Awareness” and “Small Talk Saves Lives” encourages those who need to talk to call free, 116 123 or email [email protected], anytime day or night.
Following the Awareness Day Samaritans of Dunfermline collected a grand total of £348.35. A fantastic amount and great credit to fans of both teams.
Programme Piece Morton 19/10/24.
It is always a pleasure to invite the Dunfermline branch of the Samaritans to KDM Group East End Park. On Saturday 28th September a group of volunteers were invited to the game against Queens Park. It was great to see the players warm up with their distinctive green t-shirts on. Although the days event was about raising awareness of the magnificent work they do. There was also a bucket collection, a fantastic amount of £348.35 was raised for their funds. The Samaritans have contacted me to thank you on their behalf.
