Dunfermline Athletic Football Club Support Samaritans of Dunfermline
Our joint statement in support of the Awareness day on Saturday 26th August at the SPFL Championship game V Raith Rovers.
As we approach National Suicide Prevention Week. Today, we welcome the Dunfermline Branch of The Samaritans to KDM Group East End Park. This will be our sixth year that we will have a joint working partnership. We are a community football club, and The Samaritan's of Dunfermline hold the same values of Dunfermline Athletic.
We are proud to be partnered with Samaritans of Dunfermline as the clubs main charity partner. Both organisations recognise the importance of the wellbeing of the local community, and we look forward to working closely together in fund raising and awareness activities, such as today, that are designed to benefit both the aims of Samaritans of Dunfermline, and the continued success of the Pars, within the whole community. Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 50 and of young people aged 20-34 in the UK, and as such Samaritans hope that their association with the Football Club encourages those who find it difficult to talk about their problems to contact them.
Samaritans of Dunfermline have served the local community for over 50 years with emotional support for those in distress and despair. Locally this year’s Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign will focus on the theme of Time Space Compassion. Fife’s Health Promotion Service is working in collaboration with partners to provide a range of learning opportunities during the campaign week of 4-10 September 23.
National campaigns such as “Talk To US” and “Small Talk Saves Lives” encourages those who need to talk to call free, 116 123 or email [email protected], anytime day or night.
