Paula Johnston Listening Volunteer Samaritans of Dunfermline Completes the 310,000 Step Challenge
Paula Johnston a Listening Volunteer of Samaritans Dunfermline completed the 310,000 Step Challenge during March this year. Here we see Paula striding across the iconic Forth Road Bridge as part of her quest to reach her aim of achieving her target of 310,000 steps in aid of Samaritans. To date all those who took part in the challenge , including Paula, have raised in excess of £500,000 in support of Samaritans. A fantastic achievement by Paula one she can be justly proud.
Paula said, “There were times, in the beginning, when I wondered what I was thinking signing up for this challenge. However, I’m so glad I did. It was wonderful to be part of this group. Some of the stories shared with others also participating were absolutely heartbreaking. Some were truly inspirational. All of these reinforced what a fantastic job the Samaritans do.”
So why take up the challenge in the first place Paula? “I took part in this challenge for 3 main reasons:
to raise awareness of the work we do;
to hopefully raise some money along the way;
and lastly to get myself off the couch.“
Paula’s efforts are an inspiration to all of us and we as a Branch are so very proud of what she has achieved.
