Golf Ireland new partnership with Samaritans
Golf Ireland is delighted to announce a new partnership with Samaritans, underscoring the governing body’s commitment to nurturing mental and emotional health.
This collaboration will help raise awareness about Samaritans’ 24-hour helpline (116 123) and spotlight golf’s positive impact on overall wellbeing.
Breda Moore, Lady President at Seapoint Golf Club in Co. Louth, and Rory Fitzgerald, Irish Senior Amateur golfer, both volunteer with Samaritans and encouraged clubs to support the partnership.
Breda said: “Samaritans is an amazing organisation which is there to listen and support anyone, 24-hours a day, no matter what they are going through. It’s incredible that volunteers from both Samaritans and Golf Ireland will be working side by side to allow us to raise awareness of this life-saving service among club members and players.”
Rory added: “As a keen golfer and Samaritans volunteer I understand the benefits of good mental health. I am delighted that this new partnership between Golf Ireland and Samaritans Ireland will benefit people across the country who may be struggling to cope but don’t feel they have someone to talk to.”
