Doncaster Samaritan Jarett and colleagues took on the challenge of climbing all of the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a single day!
The team, supported by their company ATS, set off early in the morning to climb the Three Peaks on a cold and dreary day, the day was a great success and they did manage to get all three peaks climbed before the day ended! Everyone was a little worn out when they finally arrived at the fourth peak (the Pub!) for a well-deserved celebratory drink!
Jarett has been a Samaritan for around a year now and he wanted to do something to support his local branch. Doncaster is embarking on a huge refurbishment programme over the next 2 years which will revolutionise the space that we have.
The plans are split into multiple phases, the first phase will increase the number of listening stations so that we can support more callers. The second phase will focus on improving the facilities to allow Face to Face callers to be accepted once again and adding a disabled ramp for better access to the Doncaster Branch!
Doncaster Samaritans say a big thank you to volunteer Jarett and his colleagues at ATS (Applied Tech Systems) for giving their time, energy, and enthusiasm in completing the Three Peaks challenge. An amazing if exhausting feat! We appreciate your support more than words can express!
At ATS, we recognise the significant impact mental health has on our people and the importance of accessible, compassionate support. Samaritans provides this essential service through their 24/7 helpline, staffed by dedicated volunteers like Jarett. By taking on this challenge, we aimed to demonstrate our commitment to supporting Samaritans' critical work and to help fund their services. Our goal is to encourage open discussions about mental health and remind those who are struggling that they are not alone. We are thankful for the work Samaritans does to offer emotional support and express our gratitude to everyone who supported our challenge and contributed to this cause. Together, we can ensure that help is always available for those in need
