In Coventry we place great value on the initial training of our volunteers as well as the continuous development that then follows.
We are really fortunate that in 2024 Bablake School has generously allowed us to use their excellent facilities and equipment completely free of charge. Our latest intake of trainees have attended on seven Wednesday evenings from 7.00 pm – 10.00 pm where they have experienced face-to-face training with experienced Samaritans to complement the digital learning they have done at home.
We are deeply indebted to everyone at Bablake, nothing has been too much trouble and we have all felt very welcome throughout these training sessions.
Chris, Deputy Director, Coventry & District Samaritans
Bablake is a coeducational 3-18 independent school that has had a presence in Coventry since 1344!
Its central location is ideal as we attract new Samaritans from right across the Coventry and Warwickshire sub region. It has long had an association with Samaritans including a number of staff and former pupils who have become volunteers.
I am proud that we are able to make a small contribution to the vital work undertaken by Samaritans. As a school community, we put significant emphasis on the importance of treating each other with kindness and care, something that Samaritans demonstrate every single day.
