Could you help someone in distress?
We need two types of volunteer :
- Listening volunteers – to give emotional support to our callers by any, or all of - telephone calls, emails received, online chat contacts received.
- Listening volunteers do so in our branch once a week for 3 hours; one shift in every month is an overnight shift of 3 hours.
- Support volunteers - to help us maintain our premises and advertise our service.
- Chester branch couldn’t raise the funds needed to operate without the Friends (Support volunteers), who have a long history of brilliant fundraising ventures; many have involved creating delicious tasty food (known as the Hardcore Caterers) for those events!
We welcome new volunteers because we really want to help to reduce the number of unanswered calls across the UK. So if you're interested in becoming a Samaritan we would love to hear from you.
We hold regular Welcome Events (in advance of inviting you to an interview), to provide an insight into the service we offer, how we deliver it and the process involved in becoming a Samaritan, including training.
