Richard Dunne / Alistair Campbell / RSA Insurance / Cyclone - fundraising for Samaritans
A daunting challenge
A 70km trek, a 5,895 metre climb and the potential for altitude sickness; but undaunted by the task ahead, on September 22nd Richard Dunne and his life long friend Alistair Campbell will be taking on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise Funds for Chester and District Samaritans.
Richard is no stranger to the outdoors, having already completed the 3 Peaks Challenge, hiking up 24 of the Wainwright Peaks in 24 hours, and cycling across the country from coast to coast and from Liverpool to London.
Kilimanjaro is Richard's latest challenge, but it's a very important one for him. Richard is climbing Kilimanjaro to celebrate the lives of his two elder brothers; Mike, lost to suicide aged just 37; and Stuart, lost to cancer aged 53.
All of us at Chester and District Samaritans are grateful to Richard and Alistair for their support and wish them the very best of luck with the challenges ahead.

Update :
Richard and Alistair completed the arduous climb to the summit. The climb was not without its problems, Alistair suggesting with back problems and Richard with altitude sickness. They did however reach the summit on day 4, with Richard declaring himself 'broken but elated'.
All at Chester and District Samaritans would like to pass on our congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Richard and Alistair for taking on this challenge and supporting our work.
