Made all the sweeter with cakes
More and more, Job Centres are looking after the health and well-being of their customers and Chester Samaritans are glad to be included in that intiative. This time Vicky & Jan were able to share cakes with job seekers as well as fellow stall holders in Ellesmere Port, lovingly made by our fabulous 'Hardcore Caterers' volunteers - special thanks to Wellbeing High St for the photo above of us with mid-Cheshire Mind.
Thank you also to Chester Job Centre for inviting volunteers Jane and Vicky in to your office on 10th September to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, by providing a cake sale and raffle for your staff and claimants for us on this world wide awareness raising day.
It's incredibly important to us to be part of an initiative which aims to create a world where fewer people die by suicide. Samaritans campaign all year round and are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because we've known since we began in 1953 that being there, listening to people can be so powerful in helping them move out of a very dark place.
We have only recently publicised our links with local Job Centres, however they've often invited us into their spaces in Chester and Ellesmere Port, as well as being a driving force behind our 'Time to Talk' day in Wrexham in February.
