On the Buses....
You may have seen an advertisement for Chester & District Samaritans on the back of a Bus travelling around Chester, Ellesmere Port, Neston, Wrexham, Deeside, and it has brought you here.
The advertisement has been gratefully funded by the amazing contributions by the Eaton Estate in Chester, part of the Grosvenor Estate, and it is to advertise the Samaritans Helpline to those in Our Community who so desperately need to hear a non-judgemental voice in their time of need.
Samaritans vision is that fewer people die by suicide, and we offer a voice at the other end of a line. A voice that won’t judge and won’t tell you what to do. A voice that lets you know that someone cares, and a voice that allows you to talk openly about any distressing issues that you are facing.
We know that opening up and talking about what is going on in your life can be difficult. But it’s your call. We don’t pressure, we won’t tell you what to do, we do listen. Going through your thoughts with someone else can really help you to understand your feelings better, and give you a clearer picture of your options available to you.

Other Ways You Can Help
Volunteer with Us
Chester & District is run by 100+ Volunteers who give 3-5 hours of their time each week to be there for someone who needs us. We are open 7 days a week and offer 24 hour support. Volunteering with us is very rewarding, and there is an extensive training programme to ensure you are as effective as possible for our Callers.
As well as Listening Volunteers, you can also be a Support Volunteer (or Friend of Samaritans). These Volunteers help us with Outreach and Fundraising events and it is a fun and social opportunity for you to get involved in.
