Volunteers from the Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans have returned from a wonderful week working at Glastonbury Festival to raise money for our branch.
The Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans have been going to Glastonbury Festival for the last 20 years. The run the campsite steward control desks, receiving calls from stewards around the site, and providing information and support. The team helps to direct support 24 hours a day throughout the festival for all kinds of issues, from overflowing toilets to serious medical incidents.
Our branch director, Andy, joined the Friends team this year for the first time, and saw first hand how hard they work, and what an amazing job they do to help Glastonbury run smoothly.
In return for the team's work—as well as enjoying the festival while not on shift—the Friends receive a donation from Glastonbury which goes straight towards support the running of the Cheltenham and District Samaritans branch. We are incredibly lucky to have the support of this wonderful fundraising team.
