Cheltenham's Mayor thanked volunteers for all the vital work that they do when he visited the Cheltenham and District Samaritans branch today.
It was an honour to welcome the Mayor of Cheltenham, Cllr Paul Baker, to our branch today, to talk to him about the vital work that our volunteers do answering calls on the national phone line, as well as through outreach activities in the local community.
Our branch director, Andy, welcomed the Mayor to the branch, talking to him about the partnerships that the Cheltenham branch has in the local community. The Mayor also talked to other volunteers about their experience of being Samaritans listening volunteers.
In his inauguration speech in May, Paul Baker demonstrated his appreciation for the work done by volunteers working for many organisations in Cheltenham, saying: "I'm looking forward to a busy year of welcoming visitors, meeting local groups, organisations and businesses, as well as thanking the hundreds of volunteers who contribute so much and make such a difference to our town."
This was reiterated today when he thanked the volunteers he met for all the work that they do.
