A new play by Severn Playwrights explores life in a 1950s asylum, with proceeds being donated to Samaritans.
An Unexplored Country was written by the Severn Playwrights and inspired by the book "Y Block" by Anthony Lynch. The play centres on Andrew Edwards, a conscientious objector who chooses to undertake humanitarian work rather than complete National Service. This brings him to a mental asylum, where he meets patients, staff and relatives.
The play was performed at The Folk, Gloucester, with proceeds being donated to Cheltenham Samaritans.
