Nominating Cheltenham Samaritans as your Charity of the Year is a unique opportunity to unite your staff behind an inspiring cause and demonstrate your company’s commitment to making a difference.
Samaritans is a nationally recognised and trusted brand at the heart of local communities. Cheltenham Samaritans is a local charity that recently celebrated supporting callers for over 60 years. As a branch we aim to support callers 24 hours a day and last year we supported over 20,000 callers. Choose us and you’ll make a huge difference to people in crisis.
Help us make sure that no one has to face things alone.
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help.
If one of your family members or friends needed to call Samaritans you may never know, but you would want us to be there to answer that call if it came in.
Right now, we're needed more than ever. We’re the UK’s only free 24-hour emotional support and life-saving service – we’re here when no one else is.
But we can't do it alone
Sadly today, life is getting harder for many people. Not all of us have someone to talk to and, even if we do, we can still feel crippling loneliness and pressure and need a kind ear to listen to us about whatever we’re going through – that’s why Samaritans is here.
Please help us be there for people in distress, our callers are from all walks of life, and often Samaritans is the only place they have to turn to.
Together, we can make change that saves lives.

I was on the sofa on my own, having panic attacks and thoughts about suicide. Everything had got on top of me. I didn’t feel I could even talk to my partner, but I needed someone who I didn’t know to just sit there and let me be vulnerable. At that point, Samaritans was there.

Choose Cheltenham Samaritans as your Charity of the Year
Your organisation can have a huge impact and help people who are struggling to cope. With your support we can:
- Be there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for people who need us
- Raise awareness of our service and need for more listening volunteers
- Train and recruit more volunteers
- Provide emotional support to those most in need through outreach activities in our local community

Our confidential support service is open 24/7, 365 days a year. We are often the only place people can turn to. Supporting Cheltenham Samaritans ensures that this service can remain open for anyone struggling to cope.

Why choose Cheltenham Samaritans as your charity of the year?
- Align with one of the most trusted UK charities
- Have an impact locally by supporting a local charity to be there 24/7 for those in need
- Save real people’s lives and change countless others for the better

As your charity of year, we would work with you to:
- Share with your company more about Samaritans to help everyone engage in fundraising events to support Cheltenham Samaritans.
- Bring Samaritans’ expertise into your workplace with ‘Lunch and Learn' workshops to share tips on creating a supportive environment and how to be there to listen to those around us. We would also work with you to see if there are further opportunities for our listening volunteers to support your organisation.
- Be a gold sponsor at the craft beer festival run by the Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans in February and October each year. The Friends have been fundraising for Cheltenham Samaritans for over 45 years.
- Provide volunteering opportunities through our Friends of Cheltenham Samaritans. They run events such as craft beer festivals and support events such as fireworks at Cheltenham racecourse and festivals — all great opportunities for volunteering.
Help us to continue to be there for anyone who needs someone to listen, without judgement or pressure.
