The latest suicide data for England shows:
- 5,316 people took their own life in 2019
- The overall suicide rate has increased by 5% between 2018 and 2019
- Men aged 45–49 have the highest suicide rate (25 per 100,000)
- 3 in 4 suicides were male – the male suicide rate is now 16.7 per 100,000
- The suicide rate for men aged 25–29 increased by 19.2% between 2018 and 2019. The rate for this group is the highest it has been since 2003.
