Why we need your support
Your help will enable us to be there for someone in need, who has perhaps reached crisis point or who is struggling to cope.
Central London Samaritans, based in the heart of London, is the founding branch of the wider Samaritans organisation. We are an independent charity and wholly responsible for our own operational and fundraising activities.
Our volunteers provide confidential, non-judgemental, emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope for whatever reason. We're here to listen round the clock every hour of every day and have provided this support without interruption since opening in 1953 at St Stephen Walbrook. At Samaritans, we receive a call for help every 10 seconds.

The atmosphere was electric. Samaritans had a good presence on the route! Paola was great at advising us throughout the sponsorship.

I enjoyed how well Paola kept us up to date with information regarding the event and her very quick email responses to any queries. It was also so lovely to be cheered on by Samaritans supporters during the race as well. I cannot fault the teams communication, it really was brilliant.

Running has massively helped me with my mental health and that’s why I decided to run for Central London Samaritans who rely solely on donations from the public. I could barely even run for one minute when starting the ‘Couch to 5km’ in the first lockdown so I’m feeling super proud for getting this far. The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a fantastic event and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone!

I was lucky enough to receive a charity spot for Central London Samaritans to participate in the London Landmarks Half Marathon and it was the best thing I have ever done! I never thought I would be able to do something like this, but I did it! For everyone who thinks they cannot do it, believe in yourself! You can do it! Hearing people shout your name, the fabulous charities cheering you on and the other runners all being so supportive pushes you through it. Central London Samaritans have been so supportive throughout, and their cheer station towards the end really gave me the last boost I needed. I managed to complete it in just under 3 hours 30 minutes which I am completely over the moon with! I am so proud to not only have completed the half marathon but to have reach my fundraising target for such a brilliant charity! I could not stop smiling the whole way round!
