The month between 10 September and 10 October is known as the 'Month of Hope,' starting with World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September and ending with World Mental Health Day on 10 October
The 'Month of Hope' is about raising awareness of suicide and encouraging people to have open conversations about their mental health. This year's theme is Creating Hope Through Action, encouraging people to share what they do which helps them to feel hopeful when they are going through a difficult time be it coffee with a friend, walking, running, doing a hobby etc.
We started the 'Month of Hope' on World Suicide Prevention Day on Friday 10 September with a 'Memory Tree' at The Big Fandango shop on Bolton Street. People joined us throughout the day to decorate the tree with messages written to loved ones lost to suicide.
We are also planning a Walk of Hope on Sunday 3 October 2021 at 1 p.m. We will meet at Burrs Country Park for a 3-mile circular walk with wellbeing activities, lasting approx. 2 hours. The Sunnywood Project, Uplift Unite and The Big Fandango are all supporting this even and tickets must be booked via Eventbrite – Bury Walk of Hope.
