Brighton and Hove Volunteers Spreading the word.
As part of the Small Talk Saves Lives national campaign, our Brighton, Hove and District Samaritans volunteers were out in force at local train stations throughout March, handing out information leaflets, spreading the word that a simple conversation could save a life.

At most of the stations we visited, we were joined by the British Transport Police who are backing this important campaign, giving commuters the confidence to approach members of the public who look like they might be in distress.
Just by asking questions such as "Are you OK?" or "Do you know where I can get a coffee?" can be a powerful tool in interrupting suicidal thoughts. Samaritans want to move people from being bystanders to standing by.

Together, we can create a network of support where every conversation counts.
Our volunteers were in Hove, Lewes, Preston Park, Falmer, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and Hassocks and at Brighton station Meridian TV came to interview one of our volunteers, helping to spread the word that Small Talk Saves Lives.
