Long-serving volunteer raises £800 for central charity
Jane, a long standing listening volunteer, having previously held a number of roles including Leader and Deputy Director, was joined by her family, friends, neighbours and fellow volunteers for the Samaritans’ Dawn Walk on Saturday, 18th September. In doing so they helped her raise more than £800 for the central charity. A fabulous achievement.
The 5k route was a pretty, circular one on quiet lanes and paths around Knowl Hill (near Twyford), where Jane lives, and her supportive husband Colin had the kettle and tea urn ready for their return. Buck’s Fizz, tea, coffee, strawberries and pastries were the lovely hospitality offered in their home.
The group were lucky with the weather. They gathered in the dark, set off in the not-quite-dark, and soon saw a beautiful dawn as they walked.
We really enjoyed taking photos of the pinks, golds and greys of the morning light.
