On Saturday 18 January, Bognor, Chichester & District Samaritans joined other local charities at the VAAC (Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester) Volunteer Fair in Chichester.
The fair gave the chance for attendees to browse the volunteering opportunities in the area. We were excited to have a stall at the event and give prospective volunteers a chance to find out what volunteering with Samaritans is like. It’s always a joy to meet people willing to dedicate their time to a worthy cause.
Our team met many eager people interested in all the work we do in the area. Branch director Paul said: ‘It was great to meet with the wider community in Chichester and talk about how people could join us and become members of our branch. A big thank you to VAAC for organising such a well-attended event.’
Volunteers are essential to any community. Our branch is run entirely by volunteers, and we wouldn’t be able to carry out our important work – being there for those who need us when they need us – without them.
We are always seeking new volunteers to help us support our callers in their hours of greatest need, but remember – you don’t have to answer the phones to volunteer with Samaritans. There are plenty of other ways to get involved with the organisation. For instance, we are currently building our team of support volunteers, who assist in running the branch and allow us to reach our strategic goals. We currently have vacancies for fundraising and admin roles that will help the branch grow and allow us to reach more people than ever before.
