Our volunteers have been out meeting the good people of Banbury and the local district during October.
The month got off to a great start with a two day event at Banbury Canal Festival where we met so many amazing people and who were keen to learn more about what Samaritans do, how we do it and how they could get involved.
Then, in what was a busy week, we held our Annual Branch Meeting on 5th October where Davina, our outgoing (in all meanings of the word!) director for the past three years formally handed over to Yvonne who will be looking after us all for the coming three years. It was a great evening with a few tears, lots of laughter and plenty of socialising.
13th of October saw two members of our schools talks team visiting the Chenderit School in Middleton Cheney where they met over 150 sixth formers who were an absolute credit to their families and the school. More plans are in place to visit other schools in the area and if you'd like them to come and talk to your over 16s then please get in touch.
Our fundraising volunteers have been busy too with a collection at Banbury Tesco Extra (or the big Tesco as it's known locally) where, thanks to the generosity of customers we raised over £400 to help keep Banbury & District Branch open. Our thanks to all of you for making it such a good day.
The November diary is filling up nicely too but if you'd like to have someone from our talks team come and visit your workplace, social group or church then please contact us via our enquiries email.
