2024 marked our 50th anniversary and it's been terrific. We've received so many good wishes, fantastic donations and publicity across all types of media.
We couldn't let this milestone pass without a party and we had an amazing night at Banbury Town Hall with volunteers past and present, some of our supporters and local dignitaries. The very talented Matt McGuinness provided the entertainment and one of our longest serving volunteers was "interviewed" about how the Samaritans service has evolved over the years. Thanks must also go to local resident, David Beckham, for donating a signed football shirt which we were able to auction.
We've also been busy raising awareness in our local communities in Banbury Market Square, at Banbury and Bicester North Stations, Town Mayors Fun Day, Banbury College, Banbury Canal Festival and so many more.
Collections have been held in various supermarkets and we are so very grateful for the generosity shown by shoppers. Our final bucket collection of 2024 was on 18th December when we braved torrential rain to collect with the Banbury Round Table and Santa around the Timms Estate - getting soaked was so worthwhile due to the kindness, donations, smiles and waves from residents.
