Sunday 21st April was the annual London Marathon and this year Samaritans were chosen as the charity of the year for the event with branches across the UK encouraged to support the event locally.
Many local landmarks were illuminated in green including Banbury Town Hall for all three nights of the weekend, and we must say the effect was stunning.
Although none of our volunteers were taking part in the race itself our outreach volunteers were out promoting Samaritans at the Banbury Park Run (a very early start!) and at Spiceball Leisure Centre where we were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and appreciation for our work from the large numbers of people we met.
We were also super excited to see one of our volunteers at the Marathon itself acting as an emotional support hub listener for anyone needing to talk.
