The media have coined the third Monday in January as "Blue Monday" but for the last three years Samaritans have transformed the day into "Brew Monday" encouraging people to have a brew and a chat.
On Monday, 20th January Banbury Samaritans volunteers were up bright and early scraping ice off their windscreens before heading off to Banbury Station. We were one of over 100 Samaritans branches giving out specially wrapped tea bags and our very own Lisa had provided us with some delicious, home made biscuits.
Brew Monday has grown year on year with members of the public being encouraged to hold fund raising tea parties or sit down with a cuppa to chat to someone going through a tough time. Samaritans branches also hold awareness raising tea bag extravaganzas at their local rail stations supported by rail staff. We gave out hundreds of tea bags and as ever, received tremendous support from those passing through the station - thank you.
