Wexford Local Development hosted a Traveller Wellness event in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, on Tuesday, May 9th 2023
East Coast Samaritan volunteers would like to thank Mary for her kind invitation to take part in this event. It is through events like these that we are able to raise awareness that Samaritans are available every day and every night to support anyone that is going through a difficult time.
Samaritan volunteers were delighted to take this opportunity to both raise awareness and also network with other services focused on helping others in their hour of need.
The event hosted a range of services and provided space for them to set up displays demonstrating the different types of support which they offer. Talk to Tom, Pieta House, Shine, S.O.S and Cycle for Suicide were all represented along with many other vital organisations.
We were delighted to be present and to offer information about the work that Samaritans do. We gave out pens, wristbands, cards with the number 116 123 and leaflets. We also had the opportunity to learn more about other organisations who were also offering material about their services.
One of our team who was present on the day confirmed: As a volunteer with East Coast Samaritans, it was a privilege to be a part of the Wellness Evening for Travellers and one of so many voluntary organisations that bring so much support to people in many different ways across the country, it's an inspiration!
This well organised event also had many workshops, including culture, mindfulness, men's health, yoga, healthy eating, minding yourself and mental health. We had the pleasure of joining as part of a wellness workshop called Suicide or Survive.
Our thanks again for the opportunity to be included in this important wellness day.
