East Coast Samaritan volunteers were at the St Patrick's day parade in Arklow to raise awareness of the Samaritans' work
Arklow finally got the go-ahead for the first St Patrick's day parade since 2019.
Arklow St Patrick's day Parade began at 2pm from the supermarket carpark on Wexford Road, proceeding down Main St, then past the Samaritans branch and finishing at Lower Main St.
We were delighted to be there giving out wristbands, pens and leaflets.
A member of the General Public came over to enquire who we were, and this was a fantastic way to raise awareness of what we do.
There was a amazing turnout on the Main St. The parade was led by the emergency services with Fire engines and Gardai sounding their sirens. There were floats from Arklow Tidy Towns, Arklow Pipe Band, Arklow Boxing Club, RNLI, Arklow Colour Club, Arklow Town Football Club, Arklow Rugby Club, Arklow Rowing Club, Arklow Rock Parnells GAA, Arklow United Football Club, Brady's vintage cars and the traditional array of tractors and trucks followed.
Another member of the Public didn't know the branch was there, so the Samaritan volunteers made it a brilliant way to raise awareness of where the branch is.
Talk to us, whatever you're facing, we're here to listen.
