St Patrick's Day in Arklow
East Coast Samaritan volunteers were delighted to be out on St Patrick's day creating vital awareness of what Samaritans do and raising much needed funds for the running costs of the branch based in "Arklow, Co Wicklow". We raised awareness by giving away pens, wrist-bands, information leaflets and "Samaritan, branded individually wrapped tea bags" with the number 116 123.
We would like to say a huge thank you to our volunteers and to the community of Arklow who supported our recent bucket collection on St Patrick's Day.
Damien Byrne (Branch Director) added, I would like to thank everyone of the volunteers that came out to help raise awareness and vital funds for our local branch, I feel it is a great experience to be part of this amazing close-knit team of volunteers. I am meeting people on a daily basis with the one goal in mind, to help others at their hour of need and to support one another along the way.

A huge occasion for locals and visitors alike, the Arklow St Patrick’s Day Parade draws revellers from all over the country with its warm and convivial community atmosphere.
Local businesses, clubs, marching groups, floats, community organisations and more take part in the spectacular event, with crowds gathering along the parade route to enjoy the colour and excitement of the impressive parade.
Organisers and committee members have pulled out all the stops again this year to create a wonderful family-friendly atmosphere in the picturesque town. The Grand Marshalls this year will be parade legend Murt Mulligan and his loving wife Gracie.
A volunteer with East Coast Samaritans said " Great day today collecting money for East Coast Samaritans - Arklow Branch, I'm proud to be a part of with such amazing people and the good we all do, thank you to all the people of Arklow for your support"
Our very own mascot, a beautiful Labrador retriever was in the branch and at the parade wearing an 'East Coast Samaritans' bandana and getting lots of cuddles and attention from many people in Arklow town.
