East Coast Samaritans received a donation from a retired Dublin Bus employee
East Coast Samaritans received a kind donation of €200 by a Dublin Bus Employee on the 12th of October 2023 in memory of their dear friend and colleague Brendan Flannery, may he rest in peace, a further €200 was donated to the HSE.
Brendan's mother Claire Flannery visited East Coast Samaritans and met with volunteers. We sat down with Claire over coffee as she spoke highly of Brendan and of their devastation for the loss of their beloved son, losing their son at a very young age of 27 tragically.
Claire said "He was the last person on earth that you would think would do this" Claire added "Brendan had a passion for fixing anything electronic, teaching others how to fix things and adored his Hornby train sets and cars. Brendan was the proud owner of a GTI Golf and had a passion to be a race car driver as a career. He was a very popular young gentleman.
Niall, a friend of Brendan's said "Brendan was not just kind, but extraordinarily compassionate, endearing himself to friends and colleagues alike. He embraced life wholeheartedly, exuding an infectious energy that touched everyone he encountered. His impeccable sense of fashion and style revealed a keen eye for quality. Immensely talented, his passions radiated happiness and fulfillment, inspiring those around him. Brendan was not just loved; he was adored by all who had the privilege to know him. Their lives were profoundly enriched by his presence, making him a cherished memory."
Brendan was an extremely hard worker and often quoted;
"It's not always easy, follow your dreams"
"Passion breeds perfection, perfection breeds performance"
Brendan is sadly missed by his loving Dad Maurice, Mum Claire, brother Darragh, nephew, sister-in-law, uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Claire emphasised the importance of reaching out if anyone is in need of support through support services or bereavement counselling, there is always a listening ear, make a call for help, contact a service.
