Elavon Arklow, a leading provider of payment solutions, has organised an indoor cycle marathon to raise funds for two local organisations: Arklow Cancer Support Limited and East Coast Samaritans.
The event took place on 20th and 21st of February 2024 at the Elavon Arklow office.
The indoor cycle marathon involved teams of Elavon employees cycling on stationary spin bikes for as long as possible, while collecting donations from sponsors and supporters. Elavon set up an idonate page for the event there were amazing donations and words of support. One of the donors added a kind message " Well done to everyone in Elavon, two great causes that are close to a lot of hearts. They do great work in our community." Another supporter added " Well done Everyone! Great result."
All of the money raised will be donated to Arklow Cancer Support Limited and East Coast Samaritans, two charities that provide vital services to the community.
Arklow Cancer Support Limited is a voluntary group that offers information, counselling, and practical help to people affected by cancer and their families. The group also runs a drop-in centre, a transport service, and various support groups and activities. Arklow Cancer Support are so grateful to Elavon for their continued support to local charities as without their support we could not continue to offer our vital services to the Arklow area and surrounds.
East Coast Samaritans is a branch of the national Samaritans organisation, which offers emotional support to anyone in distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide. Samaritans operate a 24/7 helpline, as well as email. East Coast Samaritans rely on the generosity of the community by raising funds to run the branch based in Arklow, Co Wicklow. We are very grateful to be chosen as a local charity for this event. It is events like this that raise vital awareness that support is available when needed when going through difficult times.
A volunteer from East Coast Samaritans said " We are humbled by your generosity, your time, dedication and hard work to help two very good local causes. Its because of you, the people, businesses and kindness of donations that we at Samaritans are able to open our doors and listen to our callers. You have helped us to be able to help others and we will be forever grateful. Thank you so much for your valued support".
