On the 5th of December, 2024, East Coast Samaritans volunteers had the privilege of visiting Glenart College to give talks to TY students on emotional well-being and the vital work of the Samaritans
Glenart College, located in Arklow, County Wicklow, is a co-educational secondary school committed to providing a holistic and inclusive education. The school has been a cornerstone of the community for over a century, offering modern facilities and a supportive learning environment. Glenart College places a strong emphasis on mental health support, recognizing the importance of emotional well-being for students. They provide a variety of resources and programs designed to help students manage stress and mental health challenges, ensuring that every student has access to the support needed to thrive both academically and personally.
The volunteers engaged with transition year students through two lectures, fostering discussions about the importance of support, communication and the necessity of reaching out when needed.
Throughout their discussions, the volunteers provided students with pens, wristbands, and information materials to take home, which further emphasized the message of support and mental health awareness. They were thrilled to visit the school and highlight the importance of seeking help.
We extend our gratitude to Glenart College for the chance to engage with the TY students and share our mission. Together, we can create a meaningful impact in promoting emotional well-being and supporting those in need.
