Volunteers from East Coast Samaritans were delighted to attend the Dominican College Wicklow to talk about Samaritans.

Dominican college founded in 1870, is a girls secondary school located in Wicklow Town, whose stated values are Truth, Inclusion, Justice, kindness and Respect. The tutors believe that these values will always remain valid within the context of education environment.
The school offers a wide variety of subjects for its students to explore and respond to, fulfilling the school's motto of finding truth by the education of the whole person.
A team of dedicated volunteers from East Coast Samaritans visited Dominican College in Wicklow, bringing an engaging and insightful community talk to around 70 students. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the vital support Samaritans offer and to encourage open conversations about emotional well-being.
During the talk, volunteers explained the essential work of the Samaritans, emphasizing that anyone in the community can contact them for free, at any time of the day or night, either by phone or email. They delivered a powerful message: "Life is worth talking about."
The session explored the importance of expressing feelings, managing moods, and coping with life's challenges. Volunteers highlighted the value of being truly heard and discussed key aspects of emotional health, including the factors that influence how we feel and strategies to nurture positive mental health.

Students engaged in the session listening attentively and posing thoughtful questions to the volunteers. East Coast Samaritans team also distributed pens, wristbands, and posters to help promote the message of support and ensure students knew that help is always available if needed.
This visit underscored the importance of fostering emotional resilience and raising awareness of the resources available within the community.
