East Coast Samaritans visit Delightful Dollies in Enniscorthy

East Coast Samaritans, based in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, provides a listening service since 2014. Volunteers offer emotional support to anyone who is struggling to cope, through telephone calls and email.

The Delightful Dollies Group has been providing a wonderful social outlet for ladies for 12 years. They meet each week at Bellefield GAA complex where they enjoy a cuppa and a chat, and busily plan trips and organise events such as line-dancing, cinema trips, theatre visits and flower arranging. The committee of the delightful Dollies said "We were delighted to have Damien and Barbara attend the Delightful Dollies women's group to give us a very informative talk about the fantastic work the Samaritans do. We wish you all, continued success going forward. It is great to have such a service for all to avail of when needed"

Barbara, a volunteer with Samaritans, said: “I was delighted with the response, it was lovely to see many people coming over to talk to us after the talk. I have great admiration for the Delightful Dollies, it was a great privilege to be in Enniscorthy with this lovely group. We received a lovely welcome in a warm, friendly environment. We are very impressed with the support the Delightful Dollies offer one another and the provision of a facility for the wider community to socialise.”

There was a large attendance of kind ladies from the Delightful Dollies present to hear more about what Samaritans do and to learn about the branch based in Arklow. East Coast Samaritans would like to thank Edel and the committee of the Delightful Dollies, for the kind invitation to this wonderful group. East Coast Samaritans volunteers are always delighted to raise vital awareness of what Samaritans do and to offer awareness material such as leaflets, pens and Samaritan branded tea bags.
