Since 2014, Tesco have supported over 21,000 community projects nationwide
The Tesco Community Fund was launched in July 2014 to enable each Tesco store, Tesco Head office and Distribution centre to provide financial support to the causes that matter most to their colleagues, customers, and the communities they serve. Tesco have supported over 21,000 community projects nationwide - including schools, animal shelters, sports groups, elderly care centres, health organisations and much more - with over €6 million in donations. The Community Fund (sometimes referred to as the Blue Token Fund) allows Tesco head office, Tesco distribution centre and each store to choose three local groups that are important to them and their community to receive support in fundraising for their group. The Community Fund money will then be split three ways between the groups depending on how many votes they get from customers using the blue tokens, this fund was previously equally divided during COVID-19, the fund has now doubled. Every 12 weeks, each Tesco store donates up to €2,000 between three local good causes in its community.
The campaign will last 12 weeks and the good news is that Tesco have doubled the amount of money in the fund so this is a great opportunity to raise some money for East Coast Samaritans. This campaign began on Monday the 28th of November 2022 so you will see service names displayed on the blue token voting units now. Tesco would like to encourage people to use the blue tokens provided at the check outs.
These vital services chosen for the current blue token campaign in Arklow are: East Coast Samaritans, Talk to Tom and Arklow Cancer Support and the three groups nominated in Wicklow are Wicklow Hospice, Wicklow Men’s Shed and East Coast Samaritans.
We at East Coast Samaritans are extremely grateful and thankful to be chosen for the blue token community fund, every donation and project to help us to be available for callers and to create vital awareness of the work Samaritans do is so important to us to help run the branch and replenish outreach materials such as posters, wristbands and pens with the freephone number 116 123 and the email address to offer emotional support: [email protected]. Thanks again for your support.
