The Old Ship Arklow hosted a Quiz Night for East Coast Samaritans on the 21st of March 2025 with Quizmaster Pat Power.

East Coast Samaritans are proud to express our deepest gratitude to the management and staff of The Old Ship Arklow for their continued support of our branch and the vital work we do in the community. Their recent fundraiser, a lively Quiz Night hosted by the amazing Quizmaster Pat Power was yet another shining example of their dedication to helping those in need.

The event brought the community together for an evening filled with fun and meaningful purpose. Attendees competed in an atmosphere of warm connection and uplifting spirit, all in the name of raising much-needed funds to support the Samaritans branch service.

A particularly poignant moment of the night came at the close, when volunteer Paul read aloud his beautifully composed poem. His heartfelt words perfectly captured the spirit of the event and the invaluable support that The Old Ship Arklow continues to provide:
" In the heart of our town where the laughter flows,
Stands the Olde Ship Pub, with its welcoming glow.
A refuge for many, with spirits held high,
Where stories are shared, and troubles can sigh.
Sean at the helm, with a generous heart,
Welcomes each patron, right from the start.
He’s woven a fabric of kindness and grace,
Creating a haven, a warm, friendly space.
But it’s not just the pints and the chatter that bind,
It’s the ties to the cause that ignite in our minds.
For the Samaritans’ mission, so noble and true,
Finds support in the heart of this crew.
With every joyful cheer and heartfelt toast made,
Sean rallies the community, together again.
Fundraising events, with laughter and cheer,
Helping those in need, drawing close what’s held dear.
The Olde Ship sails on, through stormy and calm,
A lighthouse for souls with its steadfast psalm.
For those who are lost, for those who need light,
Sean and the pub shine, through the dimmest of nights.
So here’s to the Olde Ship, and its captain so brave,
In the seas of compassion, it’s a vibrant wave.
Together we rise, bound by kindness and care,
With gratitude for Sean and his crew, the love that we share ."
Events like these highlight the incredible impact of community spirit. We are truly fortunate to have such remarkable supporters. East Coast Samaritans would like to sincerely thank all those involved in the Quiz Night, including the management, staff, attendees, and, of course, Quizmaster Pat for leading a wonderful evening.
