Dicey's Mega Bingo took place in the Arklow Bay Hotel on October 7th, 2022.
Dicey's Mega Bingo took place in the Arklow Bay Hotel on October 7th, 2022 in aid of East Coast Samaritans, and we’re very grateful to Dicey and his wonderful helpers for hosting such a successful night out.
There was also a raffle on the night and our thanks also go to the local businesses who donated every prize. Helping us to raise vital funds helps us to be here for our callers, so it is wonderful to get such great support from our local community and beyond. Events like these also raise awareness of what we do and they are a wonderful way of spreading the word that we are here if anyone needs us for emotional support. You have all helped and are continuing to help, and we cannot thank you enough for this.
Dicey started raising funds to help support charities about three months ago. He asked the Arklow Bay Hotel if he could have the Bay Suite because it is a fantastic size for a bingo event and the management kindly offered the room at no cost to the charities involved. Dicey was of course delighted with this and then received another generous donation of bingo books from Travers Insurance, again keeping the costs down in a bid to support the charities. The bingo books come in double or single format: €10 for a single and €20 for a double book, with all proceeds from the sale of books going to the cause on the night. Dicey began with helping to raise funds for The Arklow Cancer Support Group followed by the Seabreeze Festival, Vincent's Hospital transplant unit and later the Kidney unit, Arklow Celtic Football Club, Golden Circle and last week it was the turn of East Coast Samaritans. There will be another Mega Bingo night on October 14th in aid of Arklow Girls’ Boxing Club.
Dicey said he wanted to help raise funds for groups and organisations that were unable to raise funds due to COVID-19. He said, “Whenever I could get a Friday night in the Bay Hotel, I had a bingo night there and I hope to continue to do so for the future”. He added that he has covered six Fridays over the last three months. Dicey also provides some of his own hampers and spot prizes to keep the night fun and entertaining.
I hope I can get as many charities as I can helped
