Arklow River Sponsored Walk was a great success
Walkers participating in the Arklow River Sponsored Walk in aid of East Coast Samaritans
The Arklow River Sponsored Walk went extremely well. There were a lot of walkers out enjoying the scenery along the way and there were beautiful homemade buns, cheesecake and lemon drizzle cake to be had with tea and coffee afterwards.
We should perhaps mention that the walk nearly didn’t take place at all (or at least not along its originally intended route)!
As the walk date approached we learned that water maintenance works were due to take place along the length of the River Walk and that it would be closed for 9 months.
However, walk-organiser Rory was undeterred and after making multiple calls, managed to have the work schedule delayed, receiving a confirmation from the contractors that they would “fence off a section for you to complete the walk and on 26th September we will close the walk off until the works are complete”.
That was amazing, and well-done to Rory for his efforts in achieving this.
Also, well done to all those who came on the walk and brought back sponsorship cards. Thank you all for your participation with this successful fundraising and awareness raising activity for our branch.
