10 trees have been planted to mark the 10th Anniversary of East Coast Samaritans, Arklow Branch.

As we celebrated the 10th anniversary of East Coast Samaritans, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing support provided by the Tidy Towns committees in Gorey, Kilmuckridge, Enniscorthy, Bunclody, Courtown, Arklow, Aughrim, Avoca, Wicklow, and Greystones. Your dedication and enthusiasm have made the journey of planting commemorative trees not only possible but profoundly meaningful.
This initiative has been a remarkable experience, bringing together communities and volunteers with a shared vision of creating a greener future. Every tree planted symbolizes hope, resilience, and connection—the very values we strive to uphold at East Coast Samaritans. It is worth noting that all the trees planted are Betula pendula, commonly known as silver birch trees, which are cherished for their elegance and their environmental benefits.
The significance of this project reached a special milestone when the 10th tree was planted in Greystones during National Tree Week. This moment beautifully encapsulated the spirit of unity and purpose that defines our collaboration. It is a testament to what can be achieved when passionate people work together for a common cause.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Wexford County Council and the Wicklow Rotary Club for their incredible support in providing all that was needed for this meaningful initiative. Your contributions were instrumental in turning this vision into a reality, and we deeply appreciate your support.
A special thanks must go to Gerry for dedicating his time and effort to assembling the materials needed for this project and for personally helping to transport and plant a number of the trees. His commitment and hard work have been invaluable. Additionally, a big thank you to the wonderful volunteers who liaised with the Tidy Towns teams and local council to ensure this initiative was a success. This coordinated effort truly brought this project to life.

Tidy Towns committees play an essential role in towns and villages across Ireland. Their tireless efforts to enhance and preserve local environments are deeply inspiring. From planting flowers and maintaining green spaces to organizing clean-up drives and fostering community pride, these teams ensure that our towns remain beautiful, welcoming, and vibrant. Their work is a reflection of the love and care they have for their communities, and their dedication enriches the lives of everyone who calls these towns home.
To each and every one of you who contributed to this tree-planting initiative, we extend our heartfelt thanks. Your commitment to this project has not only marked an important anniversary for East Coast Samaritans but has also left a lasting legacy for generations to come.
